Resource Development and
Implementation

Our extensive experience in planning and implementing advanced drilling and well installation is being applied to NA assets to ensure maximum resource recovery in the most efficient designs. As this can be as large a capital cost as lithium recovery, doing this right with integration to the recovery technology is essential for project success.

Lithium Recovery

Lithium recovery involves three distinct services Water Treatment, Direct Lithium Extraction, and Conversion.

Water Treatment

Offered as a stand-alone service or part of our integrated lithium recovery technology, Empower has extensive experience designing, building and operating water treatment for produced waters through to geothermal brines. Our modular systems are fully adaptable to any water challenge creating a targetwater output for specified reuse, disposal or feed to Direct Lithium Extraction.

Direct Lithium Extraction

Empowers patented molecular sieve is superior to adsorbents by providing a physical barrier to larger contaminating ions in the recovery of lithium. It therefore produces a cleaner intermediate lithium chloride product at higher concentration than adsorbent alternatives making the conversion process more efficient and less costly. It also unlocks recovery from lower quality brine resources that are not suitable for recovery by adsorbents.

Conversion

Empower is a leader in downstream processing of DLE intermediaries to battery-grade lithium carbonate for product sales. Our process has consistently produced battery-grade products at pre-commercial scale from our own DLE process and from other processes using adsorbents.

Laboratory & Research Support

Empower has a state-of-the-art research laboratory in its Dallas headquarters. We provide full service brine characterization, DLE and conversion testing, media assessments and research and development opportunities. We have helped over 40 companies evaluate their resource, the technologies to exploit them and supported engineering design with the data required for project development and feasibility studies.

ALBERTA, CanADA

Joint venture resource project advancing Direct Lithium Extraction testing toward pilot-scale deployment. Empower is supporting pilot design and validation, with ownership milestones tied to performance and commercialization targets. DLE through to a pre-commercial pilot implementation in a 400 tpa plant. Participated or supported all aspects of engineering and development with the provision oif over 40 tons of our DLE media.

SMACKOVER

Joint venture resource project advancing Direct Multiple bench scale studies to evaluate feasibility. Empower’s DLE excels in high H2S and barium containing brines with industry leading selectivity for lithium. Third-party validation of Empowers DLE process. Project development pending client funding of asset development.

BARNETT

Multiple bench trials led to 4-month on-site pilot on a poor-quality brine. Successfully out-competed other trialed technologies with minimal pre-treatment requirements. Projects pending improved lithium pricing.

East Texas

Multiple successful bench trials validating Empower’s DLE technology. Finalist in a competition spearheaded by a Texas oil supermajor assessing the best global technologies. Like the Barnett, these brines are poor quality and not economic until lithium pricing recovers.

Nevada

Successful bench scale validation of technology for greenfield brine resources proximate to well-known existing resources. Asset development pending.

Utah

Successful bench scale validation of Empowers DLE technology using from a mineral mine evaporation pond. Submission of a project development design and proposal, however, current seasonal operation hinders feasibility.

Marcellus

Processing frac-flowback concentrates from a water treatment plant. Multiple bench trials led to on-site pilot. One of the lowest quality waters trialed with respect to lithium to divalent ratios and our DLE performed.

Alberta, CA

Bench scale validation on evaporator concentrates from steam assisted oil recovery, multiple brown and greenfield projects on low lithium brines with exceptional performance. Extensive laboratory and technical support for project development that
is on-going.

Saskatchewan, CA

Two greenfield projects with extensive bench validation of the Empower DLE technology. One JV in place for 30% ownership as milestones are
achieved. Pilot system build and deployment pending project funding.
